The Irish Setter Club of Scotland

Dave Laidlaw RIP

David LaidlawIt is with a very heavy heart that the Irish Setter Club of Scotland writes to let their members know of the passing of our Vice Chairman, Dave Laidlaw (Glencarron).

Dave served on the ISCS committee for over 30 years with over 10 of those years serving as Vice Chairman.

Dave, along with his wife Betty, truly lived and breathed Irish Setters. They attended and competed at shows up and down the UK, as well as spending many years competing at the infamous Irish Show circuit, where they shared many memories and made lots of friends.

Dave had a wealth of knowledge on the breed. He held the wellbeing and future of Irish Setters very close to his heart. Dave was passed to award CCs at Championship Show level and did so on many occasions.

Dave and Betty successfully bred and showed multiple show champions and Dave continued to remain active in Irish Setters and attended as many shows he could.

Dave loved to encourage the younger generation to fall in love with our wonderful breed. He loved doing this no more so than through his granddaughter, Chloe. Chloe now shares the Glencarron affix and has bred her own litter of Glencarrons, which Dave was immensely proud of.

Dave opitimised the definition of a gentleman. His smile, sense of humour (as well as a wee dram or two!) would light up any room. It goes without saying that Dave leaves a big hole in the heart of the ISCS and will be sorely missed by all that knew him.

Our thoughts are with Betty, Chloe and all the Laidlaw family at this time.

The ISCS committee.
