About Us
The Irish Setter Club of Scotland was established in 1934 by a small group of people who wished to see the interests and welfare of the Irish Setter championed in Scotland. The Club was the second Irish Setter Breed Club to be formed in the United Kingdom.
The Club began with a membership of 30 and now has in excess of 260 members throughout the United Kingdom and abroad and caters for both Senior and Junior members.
The management of The Club is overseen by the Officer Bearers and Committee of 15, all of whom have a wealth of knowledge and experience of owning, breeding and general care and well-being of Irish Setters and are delighted to help any Irish Setter owner or prospective owner in any way they can.
The Club runs two shows a year, a Championship Show held on the second Saturday in April at The New Auction Market in Lanark and an Open Show held in early September at The Cochrane Hall in Alva, Clackmannanshire to which all are welcome whether as spectators or exhibitors. These events are a wonderful place to talk to other Irish Setter lovers. From time to time the Club holds other events throughout the year and those that are planned will be featured under the Events section of this website.
The Irish Setter Club of Scotland is one of only three Irish Setter breed clubs which produces it’s own Year Book which is freely available to members and is produced in January of every year. This not only records the accomplishments of our members but also aims to provide interesting material on many aspects of Irish Setter ownership.
Under the auspices of the Club is the Rescue Scheme for Irish Setters which is explained elsewhere on this website.
To join the club and in effect our Irish Setter family in Scotland, simply print out the ISCS Application for Membership form and send to the Club Secretary.
