It is with a heavy heart that I advise that Myra McLeish passed on July 11th aged 85..
She was the kindest lady, loved by all and had a brilliant sense of humour and was mother to Lynn, Diane and Colin and was also a grandmother and great grandmother. She doted on her family. Myra was steeped in the history of Irish Setters particularly in Scotland. She acquired her first Irish from June and Ronnie Hill.
Along with her late husband Jim, she ran very successful boarding kennels in Dundee. She was heavily involved in Irish Setters since the 80s and served on the Irish Setter Club of Scotland committee for a number of years.
In addition, Myra was also heavily involved in the ISCS Rescue side for many years, indeed she and Ailsa Harvey established this. She was also very proud to be a highly respected Championship judge of Irish Setters..
Her Timberbush Red Bounty did a lot of winning in the earlier days of showing, but her most high profile winner was the lovely Sh Ch Myresden Gabrielle (Sh Ch Erinade Scottish Union x Drumwood Juliana) who, handled by daughter Diane, won the Bitch CC at Crufts in mid 80s.This was her proudest moment in the ring..
It was at the recent SKC in May that we saw Myra for the final time at the Irish Setter ringside. Sadly she was in a wheelchair but still had a twinkle in her eye and a smile for everyone. She will be sorely missed by her family and all who knew her.
Her Funeral will be at Dundee Crematorium, McAlpine Road, Dundee, DD3 8SD at 2.30pm on
Tuesday 28th July.
